Two packages can carry the same price and mean very different things. This is the line we hold a sailing to before we put it in front of you.

Lombok → Labuan Bajo
The standard product, four days and three nights, with most shared departures scheduled around it. Packed from the first morning, and much the easier of the two to book.
Labuan Bajo → Lombok
Usually sold as five days and four nights, with its own dates and slightly different stops. The extra night softens the pace and buys more room in Sumbawa.
How to choose
Take the eastbound line if your onward flight leaves from Labuan Bajo, or if you want Komodo early in the holiday. Take the reverse if you would rather fly east while fresh and sail west while slowing down.

How the four days actually run
Boats and seasons shift the details. The backbone below is what a quality operator holds to.

Day 1
Bangsal or Senggigi → northern Sumbawa
Morning pickup from Senggigi, Mataram, or the Gilis via Bangsal Harbour. Boarding, welcome briefing and cabins, then an afternoon sail east along the north coast of Lombok. Snorkelling stop at a coral-rich bay off Sumbawa, sunset on deck, first night at anchor.

Day 2
Sumbawa → the park boundary
An early sail along the Sumbawa coast, coffee while the volcanoes line the horizon. A reef stop for coral gardens, turtles and easy drift snorkelling, then a late-afternoon approach to the Komodo National Park boundary. In some months, an attempt at whale sharks near Saleh Bay.

Day 3
Padar Island, Pink Beach, Manta Point
Pre-dawn arrival near Padar for the short ridge hike and its three-bay view. A late-morning swim, then Pink Beach and its rose-tinted sand. Afternoon drifting at Manta Point, and a sunset sail to a quiet mooring near Rinca or Komodo.

Day 4
Dragons → Labuan Bajo
Early transfer to a ranger station on Rinca or Komodo Island for a guided walk: dragons, wild deer, buffalo and birdlife. Back aboard for a final swim, often at Kelor, then lunch while you pack and a mid-afternoon landing in Labuan Bajo.
Some boats swap days two and three, or add a quiet anchorage, when currents or permit slots demand it. Padar, Pink Beach, a manta snorkel and one ranger-led walk are the parts that should not move.

Crushed red coral tints the sand. The water is usually clear and shallow, and the inner reef is gentle enough for a first snorkel.

A guided walk with park rangers, focused on the dragons but taking in the wider savannah ecosystem around them.

What luxury means out here
Not chandeliers. Space, quiet and service: shade you can actually sit in, water pressure that works, and a chef who can cook at sea.
- Phinisi liveaboards with four to ten cabins, wide shaded decks and a stern dive platform
- Motor yachts, faster and sleeker, more common on private charters than fixed departures
- By-cabin bookings are social and cost-efficient, on dates you cannot move
- A full charter lets you set the timing, which is the honeymoon and family pattern
- For couples, look for four to six cabins and generous deck space

Reaching the departure without a scramble

From Bali by air
A short flight into Lombok International, then roughly 1.5 to 2.5 hours by road to Senggigi or Bangsal Harbour.

From Bali by sea
Fast boat or ferry to Lombok, or straight to the Gilis, then a car transfer depending on where you sleep the night before.

Sleep close the night before
Senggigi, Mataram, Kuta Lombok or the Gili area. Arriving a day early takes flight delays out of the equation entirely.

The morning of departure
Private car from your hotel to Bangsal or the Senggigi marina area. Gili guests hop across to Bangsal by smaller boat, then board by tender.

Yes, and it is usually a 5D4N itinerary with its own dates and slightly different overnight anchorages. The westbound page sets out the five days in the same detail.
Both exist. A dive-led sailing adds current sites such as Batu Bolong or Castle Rock, keeps shore excursions short and carries a dedicated guide. A snorkel-led one stays on gentler reefs, seagrass beds and shallow bommies where first-timers feel relaxed.
It does. Ask about safety rails, shaded decks and a stable hull, plus lifejackets and snorkel sizes for children. A four- to six-cabin phinisi taken whole becomes your own small ship, with mealtimes and bedtimes set by you.
A few operators will run a more leisurely five-day private charter eastbound on request. Ask early: it changes both the boat list and the price.
