Three ways across
The right answer depends on who is travelling: a honeymoon couple, a family group, or an executive on a fixed window.

Private driver to Padangbai or Serangan, porter help at the pier, then pre-reserved VIP seats with air-conditioning and priority boarding.
25–35 min in the air
Private car to Denpasar, lounge access where available, a short hop to Lombok International, then meet-and-greet and a private driver.
The long way
Private driver across Bali, escorted boarding, the car ferry across, then a private transfer to your resort.
Travel time
Sea time is only half the answer. The transfers on either side are usually what decide the day.

Direct hops between Bali, the Gilis and Lombok with no queues — south Bali to Gili Trawangan or Gili Air, or straight to the Senggigi and Bangsal area when the sea cooperates.
A crossing that counts as a night
Board in Bali in the late afternoon, cruise east with dinner under way, sleep in a proper cabin and wake off the Gilis or the west coast of Lombok.
Skip the ports
Capacity shifts from year to year, but the point stays the same: 30 to 45 minutes of aerial scenery instead of a long day of road and sea.
The Komodo leg
Once you have crossed from Bali, Lombok becomes the launch pad. The rule we work to is simple: end the transfer at the same pier your phinisi departs from.
A worked example
A lean shape guests keep coming back to. It stretches easily, and it is the frame we hang a Komodo sailing on.
Day 1–2
Arrive and settle into a villa in Seminyak or Uluwatu. A private driver on call, a spa afternoon, easy dining. Nothing scheduled early.
Day 3
Private driver to the pier, then a VIP fast boat to Gili Trawangan or Gili Air. Sunset from a quiet beach club rather than the busy end of the strip.
Day 4
A short hop across to Bangsal Harbour, then a private transfer to a Senggigi clifftop or a Kuta Lombok design hotel.
Day 5–6
Southern beaches, light hiking, or surfing near Gerupuk. A private picnic on an offshore sandbar if the tide cooperates.
Day 7
Private car to the airport or to Bangsal, depending on whether you are flying home or boarding a 4D3N phinisi toward Komodo.
A same-day Bali to Lombok run by private speedboat also works: sunrise departure, lunch at a beach club, an afternoon snorkel, a late return. It is intense, and we only suggest it when time is genuinely short.

How we present it
You see both versions against the same routing, so the extra comfort carries a price and you decide where it is worth paying. We do not fold the upgrade in quietly.
How we plan it
Dates, your Bali base, appetite for boats, and whether Komodo is essential or optional. The non-negotiables come first.
One or two outline routes — for example Bali to Gili by VIP fast boat, Lombok by private car, then a 4D3N phinisi and a flight home from Labuan Bajo.
We mark where a private charter boat, a business-class flight or a helicopter leg actually changes the day, and price each one separately.
Komodo departures are the rigid piece. The Bali to Lombok transfer is built around those dates, never the other way round.
Sketch it as one map, from your Bali villa gate to your last Komodo sunrise. Three or four separately booked tickets is exactly where the weak links appear.
Private drivers plus either a private speedboat or a business-class flight, and no shared minibuses. Slow the pacing to at least two nights per stop across Bali, the Gilis and Lombok, with a short sailing at the end if you want one.
Safety and predictability first: VIP fast boat seats or a flight rather than a small private boat, unless everyone is genuinely comfortable at sea. Then stable hulls, cabins with proper beds, and flexibility around naps and mealtimes.
A yacht transfer or private speedboat becomes cost-effective once it is split across roughly six to ten people, and it buys sun decks, flexible bar setups and time to linger at Kelor or the Padar viewpoints.
